My mother is a psychologist and she experimented with the issue, it improves some issues like reaction time but it's like going to the gym, you stop going and your muscles disappear, the gains are small and temporary depending on continuous use.
Sometimes you can get away with saying something like, "oh well actually it's related to some neurotransmitter systems impairments in my brain, but the [suggested cure] sounds fun anyways."
It obviously won't cover all the complications involved but at least it gives a slight indication that a cure/treatment should be a bit more involved than some health advice from a Yoga blog
You're also assuming the person you're talking to is an idiot that hasn't read about the monoamine theory of mental illness and decided it didn't hold much water... If there's no consensus among scientist about this, why would it be obvious to anyone else?
